Frequently Asked Questions

What to expect in terms of competition problems?

All problems will feature an exactly specified problem and require you to design and implement an efficient algorithm that solves the problem.

Who can participate in the challenge?

The challenge is open to adults with residence in most European countries, Canada, or the United States. Please check the exact eligibility criteria before signing up.

Please note that this is a pilot project of the challenge, and as such, its scope had to be limited based on a combination of operational, legal, and logistical considerations. We do recognize and appreciate the global talent pool worldwide and we truly hope that we'll be able to expand the eligibility criteria significantly in future editions of the challenge!

Can I participate if I’m currently full-time employed?

Yes. (With the exception of employees of Wincent and people living in the same household as them. Again, please check the exact eligibility criteria if unsure.)

Do I need to pay to join?

No, participation in the challenge is completely free.

What happens if I miss one of the rounds?

Unfortunately, if you miss a round, you won’t be able to advance to the next stage of the challenge. Each round is mandatory for progression.

How are participants selected for the next stage?

Selection is based on performance in each round. For full details, please refer to the official Rules section.

What programming languages can I use?

You can use the programming language you’re most comfortable with. All competition problems are open-data and only the outputs of your programs are judged.

How will the onsite finals work?

Top 20 eligible participants will be invited to take part in the finals. Each finalist will receive a €400 stipend to arrange their travel and accommodation during the event. (You should expect that there will be a few recommended hotels with discounts for finalists.)

How will the €400 stipend for travel and accommodation be paid?

The €400 stipend will be reimbursed after you attend the on-site finale in Bratislava. The payment will be made directly to your bank account via online transfer.

What if my expenses exceed €400?

If your travel and accommodation expenses go beyond the €400 stipend, any additional costs will be your own responsibility.

What documents do I need to receive the stipend or prize money?

You’ll need to provide a valid ID and proof of your bank account (such as a bank statement or confirmation document) to process the payment.

Will meals and local transportation be covered?

Meals and local transportation will be provided only during the official event days - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - while all finalists are together. Any additional personal expenses outside the event program are not covered.

Will the prize money be paid before or after tax?

All prize money will be paid out after tax. The amount you receive will already have applicable local taxes deducted. The participants are still responsible for their own taxes, if applicable.

What if I have technical issues during the challenge?

If you experience technical issues during the challenge, please contact our support team immediately through the contact method provided on the challenge platform.
